New school teachers ... all the way from Bordeaux
SIX student teachers from Bordeaux University have arrived in Bristol to teach French in primary schools.
The teaching scheme has been funded by the Bristol-Bordeaux Association and the international relations department at Bordeaux University's teacher training programme.
The French student teachers will be running activities in each school celebrating the longstanding twinning between Bristol and Bordeaux.
The activities will include games, songs and stories about children in Bordeaux.

Alix Hughes, from the twinning association, said: "Having a real French person from Bordeaux in school each day like this can have a big impact on the pupils, staff and parents.
"It makes the lessons even more fun and gives support to the teacher who is delivering French throughout the year.
"It gets everyone talking about Bordeaux and France and can inspire young children to carry on and do languages at secondary school."
The six participating primary schools are Ashton Gate, Ashton Vale, Luckwell, Southville, Compass Point and Greenfield.
Bristol and Bordeaux have been twin cities since 1947 when the agreement was signed as part of a move towards reconciliation after the Second World War.
