Angling Round-Up: Mike Nicholls broke the Bridge Pool six-hour match record wide open with a massive 201-14-0 haul of carp and silvers in the Bathampton AA Disabled & Over 55s match, fished at Hunstrete.

He poled caster and paste into the left lakeside margins of disabled peg 16 and broke the existing mark by a whopping 66-13-0 with a 179-5-0 catch of carp plus 22-9-0 of silvers.

Second place was taken by the former Bridge Pool record holder Terry Bruton. The Thatchers Tackle ace poled an 8mm hair-rigged pellet into the island margins and at 30 yards into open water via a straight lead to tempt 120-2-0 of carp to 12-0-0.

Note: The previous Bridge Pool six-hour match record was 134-1-0 taken from peg 24 by Terry Bruton during a BAA Disabled & Over 55s Match, fished on June 28, 2007.

● Match record holder Ian Chapple beat his own mark by 11-12-0 in the first of two Pick 'n' Mix Monday matches, fished at Whitehouse Farm, Latteridge.

The Alcove AC Match Secretary poled luncheon meat to come up with a record breaking 68-15-0 of carp to 12-8-0.

Result: 1, Ian Chapple 68-15-0, peg 7 Old Lake; 2, Paul Gowing 34-4-0, peg 8; 3, Steve Dawson 21-2-0, peg 19; 4, Pat Smith 16-1-0; 5, Bill Ferris 11-0-0; 6, Colin Golding 9-8-0.

● Shaun Townsend beat Martin Rayet to the top spot for the second time in three days with a 58-4-0 victory in round six of the Queens Head Series, fished at Boyd Valley Lake, Bitton.

Townsend poled soft pellet and paste into the lakeside margins of peg 11 for carp to 5-8-0 while Rayet used luncheon meat at peg nine and included the best fish of the match, an 8-8-0 common carp in his 40-0-0 total catch.

● A 90-2-0 catch of carp gave Shaun Townsend a comfortable victory in the Kings Head Elite match, fished on Specimen Lake at Landsend Fisheries, Wedmore.

The Sensas Bathampton team member brought fish weighing between 5-0-0 and 12-8-0 to the scales.

The runner-up was Martin Rayet, who

weighed in a similar 75-0-0.

● Jacklands Fishing Lakes at Nailsea are under new management and will re-open on Monday, July 27.

The 1.5-acre Trout Lake is stocked with table sized rainbow trout. A day ticket costs £6 plus £2 per pound for every fish caught. Catch and release is not allowed.

The Coarse Lake is well stocked with carp, bream, skimmers, tench, rudd and roach.
