New pub's end-of-month opening
PUB operator JD Wetherspoon is putting the final touches to a new pub in Yate ahead of its opening at the end of this month.
The pub, to be called Thorn's Farm, has been created on the site of four former shop units in South Parade.
Its name comes from agricultural land that was used for the development of the town's shopping centre and copies of old photographs and information on the area's history will be displayed inside the premises.
Commissioned artwork includes sculpture by Jan Blake and Graeme Evelyn, as well as fine art painting by Rose Sanderson.

JD Wetherspoon has spent £1.2 million on the project, which has created 50 jobs, and the pub will be managed by Terry Halls once it opens on May 29.
It will specialise in regional beers and food will be served every day, with a pavement cafe-style area also provided at the front.
Thorn's Farm pub will be open from 8am until midnight Sunday to Thursday and 8am until 1am Friday and Saturday.
Food will be served throughout the day, until 10pm every day.
Mr Halls said: "We are looking forward to welcoming customers into the pub and are confident that it will be a great addition to Yate's community."
Before planning permission was given for the pub, only one of the shops in South Parade had been in use.
It was occupied by the charity St Peter's Hospice but that organisation has since relocated to bigger premises within the shopping centre.
