New ban on smoking in beachside play areas
PLAY areas on Weston-super- Mare beach have been designated as smoke-free zones.
The voluntary ban has been launched by North Somerset Smoke Free Alliance, which includes the local council and NHS, to cut the number of areas where youngsters come into contact with people smoking.
The alliance says its initiative has received overwhelming public support, with 73 per cent of people supporting a ban on smoking in children's play areas.
Council executive member for parks Peter Bryant said it would send out a positive health message and help cut the number of young smokers.

“--"How many have reported this gem from the WHO-diesel exhaust fumes are carcinogenic"
Tons of reports, google it; it is an important news story about a study from IARC--which pro-smokers love to bash as biased and anti-smoking(!)--when all WHO and IARC really do is plain science, letting the chips fall where they may--whether they offend tobacco companies or the automotive industry.
It's those who rabid pro-smoking posters who bash science and the normal media that are "now so biased as to be totally untrustworthy."”

“Joyce...any anti smoking story is deemed newsworthy by a media that is now so biased as to be totally untrustworthy. How many have reported this gem from the WHO-diesel exhaust fumes are carcinogenic; ie lethal!

“How is this story newsworthy ?
All it is saying is that people can 'voluntarily' not smoke in the open air ?”

“Absolutely correct-it is a voluntary ban, an empty gesture-no more, no less!”
