An exhibition is about to be opened to show proposals for new cycle routes in South Gloucestershire.

The two routes form part of the Cycling City project, with one running between Parkway railway station and Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre and Community School.

The second goes from Bradley Stoke to Cribbs Causeway, with planned work including the widening of footways to allow shared use by pedestrians and cyclists, better signs, improved lighting and safe level crossing points.

Last year, South Gloucestershire was included in Bristol's designation as Britain's first cycling city.

The planned improvements will be on show from Wednesday, September 23 to Monday, October 5 in Bradley Stoke Library.

Council officials will also be at the Willow Brook shopping centre in Bradley Stoke on Tuesday, September 22, from 2pm-7pm to answer questions.

Councillor Brian Allinson, South Gloucestershire Council's planning and transport chief, said: "Bradley Stoke already has some good cycling routes but the Cycling City project will allow us to provide a consistently good cycling network across the town, with safer and more convenient routes for cyclists."
