Paige O'Brien, 19, from Downend, who has recently been selected as a community leader for the Downend/Fishponds area will be helping and supporting local churches. Susan Daley, who nominated Paige for Community Leader has spoken with local Vicars who think it will be a good idea for Paige to help young people.

Susan said: "Paige is a great mentor, I feel very strongly about her helping with our youths. She will be a great inspiration to them and give them the motivation they need."

Amanda Bee's, a resident in Downend says: "I am pleased Paige won the vote for community leader. I've only recently met her as i'm new to the area, but I am impressed already! I feel very welcomed to the area and feel assured that if any problems occur, they will be resolved in a timely manor!"

"I feel very happy that someone of Paige's generation is giving so much to her community. Many teenagers don't have any ambitions. I feel that Paige is a huge inspiration to many."

Paige said: "Being selected for the community leader position by community members, I feel it is important that they have a chance to share their views and opinions. After a successful meeting last week in Quaker's Hall, Downend, I have spoken to Bristol City Council about extending Downend Community Hall and after many debates, we finally have planning permission!"

Rev. John Vickery approached Paige about a new scheme that has started in his Church. Paige has agreed to support the new scheme and work with local churches to inspire and help young children aged 5-13.

Rev. Vickery says: "I have been a Vicar for 6 years and have not come across a person like Paige before. She is an inspiring young lady. I have strong feelings that she will provide great support for our youths.

Rachel Martin, leader of Faith groups said "Paige engages very well with all of our children. They always ask to stay longer when Paige is around!"
