● Somerset's Tom Thick came up with the winning catch in the Carps AC Midweek match, fished on Match Lake at Bullock Farm.

He poled sweetcorn and maggot into the right-hand lakeside margins of peg 15 to tempt three proper carp and crucians, totalling 20-10-0.

Second place, and the top silvers catch, fell to Mike Nicholls, who brought in 4-0-0 of carp and a winning 12-12-0 mix of silverfish.

A joint, 8-4-0 first place with Bill Ferris gave Ted Bethel a total catch of 46-4-0 and he ran in 7-2-0 clear of nearest challenger Bob 'The Bread' Price who failed to show.
