A man from Portishead was one of two people killed in a head-on collision with an articulated lorry in Bath.

Neil Barham, 30, died in the accident on the A36 Lower Bristol Road at 2.40am on Saturday.

His passenger, 29-year-old Marc Warman, from Whiteway, Bath, was critically injured and died at Frenchay Hospital yesterday.

Police said the white Audi car Mr Barham was driving towards Bristol had narrowly missed colliding with a pedestrian moments before crossing onto the wrong side of the road and into the lorry's path.

Officers want to talk to the pedestrian and anyone else in Lower Bristol Road who may have seen the car before the accident.

Anyone able to help is asked to contact the road policing unit's collision investigation unit on 0845 4567000.

Alternatively they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously or confidentially on 0800 555111.
