Murtagh desperate to play his part for Yeovil Town
Despite finding first team chances limited this season, Yeovil Town's Keiran Murtagh is desperate to play a part in the Glovers' survival battle.
Since joining Town in the summer, the midfielder has made only nine starts, with a further ten appearances coming from the bench.
However, the 20-year-old is regarded as one of Yeovil Town's brightest young players and still wants to prove himself this season.
Murtagh said: "It has been a bit frustrating for me because I have been in and out of the team so it has been hard for me to adapt.
"But hopefully now I have got my head down, I can push on and get a proper start in the team.
"I cannot really say that I have deserved more of a chance, but I would say that maybe when I have come on I have done well, but it has only been in short bursts.
"Nobody has seen me in a run of games. I can understand that the manager does not want to rush me in because it is my first season and they do not know how I will react. But hopefully I can push on and get in the side.
"A relegation battle is all new to me and trying to stay in the league is different, but we are coping with it well.
"I am learning a lot from this and hopefully I can push on now and help keep us safe. I think I have adapted quite quickly (to League football). Obviously some things are going to take time, but overall I think I have done well."
Even though he was given his break in professional football by previous manager Russell Slade, Murtagh said the disruption caused by his departure has not effected his game.
He added that the squad respect jjjjjjnew boss Terry Skiverton and Nathan Jones and said they offer plenty of encouragement to the young professionals like Murtagh, Nathan Smith and Andre McCollin.
Murtagh said: "Everyone knows the gaffer and knew him before so it was quite easy to get used to the idea.
"He talks to the players quite a lot and Jonesy is hands on. They have told me to keep my head down and keep working because I will get my chance. When I get it they want me to grab it with both hands."
Of Saturday's game, he said: "Last time we went there we had a man sent off which put us off track. Hopefully we can go there now and be strong. We have kept three clean sheets in succession so hopefully we can carry on that form."
