Murray expecting to leave Bristol City
Bristol City star Scott Murray bade a heartfelt farewell to Ashton Gate after more than a decade of wizardry on the wing – but insisted he wants to play on in the West Country, writes Nathan Jones.
The Scot turns 35 this summer and admitted he doesn't expect to win another contract from Bristol City manager Gary Johnson.

Murray made a rare second-half appearance in an effort to improve on his 99 career goals but referee Andy D'Urso didn't fall for his tumble in the box as he tried to win a penalty.
"I think that is my last game at Ashton Gate and to listen to the crowd singing my name was a very touching moment for me," said Murray.
"I think it has been 12 and a half years I have been here and it has all been worthwhile. I have enjoyed every single minute of it.
"There have been some great highs and a relegation and a play-off final defeat but there have been plenty of good memories."
Murray insisted he will not hang up his boots and wants to stay in the region so he can continue to coach at the club's academy.
"I still feel I have got another year or two in me and I am probably unemployed after next week," he said.
"I have got (former City striker) Lee Matthews on my case. He is an agent up north and he has tried Japan, China and the like but I want to stay a bit more local than that.
"I am realistic and I am 35 next month and the gaffer is probably looking for younger players to bring through. We have just signed four young academy lads as pros and I am sure the gaffer is looking for quicker players.
"I have been doing the academy all year and I want to stay involved in all that so I have told Lee I don't fancy Turkey or China or all that.
"I am keen to stay in this area if possible. If not I will end up playing for Congresbury!
"I enjoyed myself on loan at Cheltenham and I have got a few mates down at Exeter and then there is Yeovil. I am not sure about Rovers I think I might not be let in there.
"I still feel I have got a couple of more years left in me so there is no way I am going to pack up my boots just yet.
"I am definitely not stopping on 99 goals. We have got Burnley away next week and if we get a penalty I will probably miss that and stay on 99!
"Roger (Barton, kitman) has done me a t-shirt with 100 on it and I had it on underneath just in case. There is always next week."
Gary Johnson added: "Scotty has been a model professional and I am sure he will be a model
professional for the next couple of years yet.
"I am going to have a chat with him after the Burnley game (on Sunday) and see what is in his
mind.
"He is going to want to play first-team football somewhere but he has been a fantastic professional at this football club and he deserves all the appreciation that he gets."
Lee Johnson gave City the lead on 25 minutes after he fired home a flick from Nicky Maynard.
But Wednesday's on loan Wolves midfielder Darren Potter curled in an 88th-minute free kick.

“Ever since I moved here 11 years ago and started following City, Murray has always been my favourite player. There's something infectious about his enthusiasm and hustle on the pitch and his professionalism off it.
I wish you all the luck in the world, Scott! Hope to see you stay round these 'ere parts, but if not, I wish you well wherever you go!”

“Well said, roversteve!
As a City fan for over 50 years, I remember Harold Jarman as one of the two best players to play for either club (I think you can guess who the other one was!)
Like Jarman, Scott is an exciting player, and there is always a buzz in the crowd when he gets the ball. I wish him well wherever he goes, even if it is just down the road from me.”

“Scotty Murray richly deserves all the plaudits that come his way.
He has been a sensational servant to Bristol City and I sincerely hope the club can find place for Scott on the coaching staff when he does finally hang up his boots.
Two hightlights stick out for me. Firstly the 'Scotty Murray Season' in 2002-03 when he smashed home an incredible 26 goals and secondly 'that' sublime chip against Middlesborough in the FA Cup a few years ago.
Thanks for the memories.”
