Bristol City mangager Gary Johnson has recommended Scott Murray to Yeovil Town.

The winger has held talks with Huish Park boss Terry Skiverton after being released by the Robins.

Yeovil made way for Murray this week by letting veteran forward Paul Warne go meaning they have a vacancy on the right wing, which the Scotsman could fill.

Johnson said: "He would be great for anywhere he goes with his personality and experience. I would recommend him to anyone."

And Johnson confirmed there could still be an opening for the veteran to continue his coaching development at Ashton Gate somewhere down the line.

"We like to think we haven't cut the umbilical cord just yet," he said. "This is a club he is comfortable at and if there is a chance he wants to come back here in the future we will look at it."

Murray was made City club captain by Brian Tinnion in 2004 and could even fill a similar role at South Somerset with Yeovil thought to be ahead of Exeter City in the race to sign him.

The Glovers have covered the opposite flank by re-signing Andy Welsh on a two-year deal and could also move for another ex-City man, David Noble.

The former West Ham midfielder is a free agent following his release from Ashton Gate.

Meanwhile, Bristol City will hope to tie up a three or four year contract with Motherwell striker David Clarkson today after the Scottish international spent the weekend mulling over a switch south of the border.
