MUMS and youngsters in Bristol are being offered the chance to learn how to create some extra-special cupcakes for a charity event this Mothering Sunday weekend.

The Great Mums Get Together, in aid of Clic Sargent, is being backed by the Bristol Bakehouse company, run by Ali Gregory.

The Bristol cupcake decorating event takes place tomorrow in Withywood and has been set up specifically to tie in with both Mothering Sunday and Clic Sargent's Great Mums campaign.

"We'll be teaching mums and children how to decorate cupcakes," explained Ali, who established the Bakehouse last September so that people with dietary needs – such as those with coeliac disease or people who are vegan – could still enjoy tasty cakes.

"I'm coeliac and only got diagnosed after having the disease for three years. There are over 7,000 people who are diagnosed every year, and this doesn't account for many people who suffer and have no idea why."

The event takes place tomorrow at 2.30pm at the Withywood Centre. Tickets are £19 per person or £37 for two. Find out more at www.thebristolbakehouse.com or 07423 129751

    “What? No dads? How sexist.

We have seen, by any number of television programmes that men are (at least) equally good at cooking and baking, and equally interested. Why not try to get some dads on board with their children. Cooking is not the exclusive domain of women you know, or am I still in the 1960's?”

“Surely learning to bake with dough would better than with children?”
