A woman and her toddler escaped from an eighth-floor flat after a small fire broke out in a fuse cupboard.

A smoke detector alerted the woman to the fire, which was confined to the fuse box within the cupboard, but caused a cloud of smoke to fill the rest of the flat in Dove Street, Kingsdown, at about 12.45am on Saturday.
