Bridge repairs, stabilising embankments and vegetation clearance will form the bulk of the activity, but it is hoped that disruption will be kept to a minimum.
Dave Sledge, Highways Agency Service Delivery Team Leader, commented: "This is a very full programme of work but with careful planning we have been able to undertake a number of schemes at the same time, which will significantly reduce disruption. However I would advise people to plan their journeys and allow extra time."
Major works are still on-going arond the Almondsbury interchange on thr M4 and M5 as part of the scheme to introduced a managed motorway system.
