Motorcycling: Crease and Wiggins clash in Wraxall event

Ricky Wiggins, who has won all eight rounds of the South West Centre Trial Championship series, clashes with Wessex Centre star Colin Crease in the Mendip Vale Club's Traders trial at Wraxall, near Nailsea, on Sunday.

Last year the high-ranking event attracted well over 100 starters and by the middle of this week more than 60 had signed up for the two-lap 22 section event at the Belmont Estate.

Other top-flight stars attending include Ben Bramwell, John Luff, John Bees, Lee Hassall and Craig Talbot.

Mike Fear, Mike Palfrey and Trevor Wall are among those contesting the South West Classic Association three-day Exmoor Trial this weekend.

It all begins at Cove, near Bampton, tomorrow afternoon. The following day's event is at Shallowford, near Lynton, in North Devon. Horsen Farm at Simonsbath in West Somerset is the venue for the final day on Monday.

Michaelwood Services, on the M5 motorway north of Bristol, is one of three starting points in the Motorcycle Club of Great Britain's annual Lands End Trial.

Many of the 330 cars and 140 bikes will be leaving there shortly after 5pm.

Competitors converge at Bridgwater Rugby Club before setting out on a 200-mile route ending near Redruth at lunchtime tomorrow.

The weekend is one of the busiest in the year. British Sidecar Motocross Championship points are at stake in the Frome meeting in Asham Woods, Leighton, in Somerset on Monday.

All the leading contenders are there including Stuart Brown and Luke Peters, who have won all four races staged in the first two rounds.

Bristol's Joe Dark and John May are competing in two rounds of the Remedies Bar Championship at Torrington in North Devon on Sunday and Monday and there is more top-line action in the ORPA club's meeting at Little Silver, near Exeter, on Sunday.

The Pendennis Club have a two-day clubman status motocross, near Newquay in Cornwall, tomorrow and Sunday.

Grass racing enthusiasts have the South West of England Association meeting at Plymtree, near Cullompton, on Sunday. Bristol's Rod Melksham is among the leading solos with Martin Williams, Daniel Berwick and Channel Islander Anthony Quirepol also taking part.

Leading sidecars are Clive Stoneman, Jamie Brea, Phil Syms and Alfie Pearn and crewmen.
