Not surprisingly, the scheduled motorsport events in the West fell victim to the weather over the weekend.

The West Wilts Club's James Cup Trial at Westwood near Bradford-on-Avon was called off following several inches of snow in the area early on Friday, but it is planned to run the event in the near future.

The fifth round of the South West Centre trial championship at Combe Raleigh, near Honiton, was called off after many competitors telephoned the organisers to say they were marooned in their homes.

"The venue was OK, so were the roads in the area. We will now be running it on April 5," said secretary Colin Somers.
