Montpelier voted one of the 30 coolest locations to live in Britain
MONTPELIER in Bristol has been voted one of the 30 coolest locations to live in Britain.
On the weekend The Sunday Times voted Clifton as one of the best places to live in the UK and now The Times has bestowed Montpelier with an honour.
The national newspaper says its analysis is based on the latest prices and assessments of housing experts although some Bristolians will take issue with their description - particularly its proximity to Clifton.
The Times describe the area: "A tiny patch of streets close to the city centre and a few minutes' walk from chichi Clifton, Montpelier has long been Bristol's bohemain district (perhaps because of St Paul's, the centre of the city drugs trade).

"Montpelier itself has pretty period houses, many brightly painted, and some greats cafes and bakeries.
"Vegetarians are particularly well catered for"
The newspaper describes the type of people to live in Montpelier as "artists, musicians and right-on types."
In terms of house prices apparently a Georgian town house will set you back £500,000 while a two-bed modern flat will cost £160,000.
Others to make the list include Bethnal Green in London, Totnes in Devon, The Northern Quarter in Manchester, Malvern in Worcestershire, Montpellier in Cheltenham, Stroud in Gloucestershire, Jericho in Oxford and Frome in Somerset.
