Moles 1 football 0 in County League clash
Highridge United's match against Chipping Sodbury Town was called off because a family of moles had invaded the pitch.
Highridge ground-share with Bristol Manor Farm, and on Thursday the league received a phone call from the Highridge secretary stating that the game on Saturday would have to be postponed because of the rodents.
Manor Farm called in the experts and were advised that it would take two days to sort the moles out.
DRG Stapleton pulled off their first win of the season, 7–2 at Patchway Town. DRG opened the scoring in the third minute with a Clinton Wilson strike. DRG were 2–0 up in the 10th minute, through Daniel Cox and minutes later it was 3–0 when Wilson got his second.
Jamie Coombes put the game beyond doubt before Wilson completed his hat-trick.
Patchway hit back in first-half stoppage time through Matt Webb.
In the second half DRG carried on where they left off and Justin Bishop made it 6–1. Lee Morse pulled another goal back before Corey Wilson netted to complete the rout.
Thornbury Town's good run came to an end with a 2–1 defeat at home to B&W Avonside. Thornbury took the lead in the 25th minute, with Steve Alexander the scorer.
Kris Rueben equalised from 20 yards and Thornbury lost their momentum.
B&W Avonside snatched the winner when the Thornbury defence allowed Steve Mason room to run clear and slide the ball home.
Henbury managed a 2–1 win at home to Bishop's Cleeve Reserves but fell behind after 15 minutes to a Jamie Hammond shot. At this stage the visitors looked the better side but leading goalscorer Shane Hobbs pounced in the 38th minute to level.
Four minutes later Hobbs was again on target. A 5-1 win for Kings Stanley over Tuffley Rovers keeps them in contention for the title.
Mike Beckingham opened the scoring and Steve Potter quickly added a second before Luke Barstow made it 3-0.
Five minutes into the second half Beckingham netted his second, with Nick Reiger completing their scoring.
Tuffley's consolation came from Ian Gillespie.
The game between Berkeley Town and AXA ended 2–2, with the home side taking a 2-0 lead through Adam Philp and Peter Holder.
Axa replied with a penalty from Danny Thorpe and a Ryan McKillop goal.
Slimbridge remain top after a 1–0 win over Ellwood. Marvin Roberts scored the goal.
Hanham Athletic remain one place off the bottom after their 2–0 defeat at home to Taverners.
