Moaning people are hypocritical
RESIDENTS' annoyance at on-street parking by Southmead Hospital staff and visitors is understandable but hypocritical and illogical.
Hospital employees, patients and visitors enjoy just as much legal and moral right as locals to park on unrestricted public streets.
And if residents are so concerned about congestion and safety, why don't they move their own vehicles?
That said, one wonders how many hospital staff and users genuinely need to arrive by private motor vehicle.

Surely buses run within easy distance of the hospital. Or people could travel by taxi, bicycle or foot.

“typical reply from Harvey. The people parking are employees, mostly shift workers, let down by the Hospital by inefficient planning. Allowing thousands of extra staff to work, without making adequate facilities for them. Local residents have been unable to get cars out of their own drives safely. The grass verges have been turned into quagmires by cars parking over them. Larger lorries, vans dustcarts etc find it difficult to work. Cars have to reverse erratically for considerable distances causing jams.
The residents have complained through democratic channels to seek a solution.
80% of the residents have agreed to residents parking in these areas as recommended by S.Glos. Council.
But i am sure Visitors and employees will be pleased to use taxis, the inadequate bus service or walk as suggested by Franis Harvey especially the thousands moving up from Frenchay.”
