Millwall walking wounded for Bristol Rovers trip
Kenny Jackett is faced with a crippling injury crisis ahead of Millwall's trip to the Memorial Stadium.
The Lions boss has a casualty list comprising of 11 first-team players after watching in frustration as defender Paul Robinson (ankle) and striker Jason Price (hamstring) became the latest additions to the treatment table during Tuesday night's Johnstone's Paint Trophy exit at Barnet.
Jackett already had defenders Tony Craig (back), Zak Whitbread (hip), Danny Senda (Achilles) and Pat O'Connor (hamstring) as well as midfielders Lewis Grabban (thigh) and Chris Hackett (groin) unavailable.
Strikers Neil Harris (ankle) and Steve Morison (hamstring) are also sidelined as is Gary Alexander (ankle) – although Jackett is hopeful the latter will be available for selection ahead of the weekend.
Goals from Barnet duo Jake Hyde and Ismail Yakubu condemned Millwall to defeat at Underhill but it was the deepening injury crisis that was of greater concern to Jackett.
Robinson was playing his first game back since breaking a bone in his foot in January and the luckless defender now faces another lengthy lay-off after ligament damage to his ankle was confirmed.
Jackett said: "It wasn't a good result for us (at Barnet) but the biggest worry for me were the injuries to Paul and Jason. I am gutted for Paul because he has worked so hard trying to get back to fitness."
The manager, however, can at least call on the talents of midfielder Danny Schofield, below, after completing a deal to sign him from Yeovil on transfer deadline day.
Schofield, 29, signed a two-year deal.
He is expected to be joined in midfield by academy graduate Ali Fuseini, former Plymouth man Nadjim Abdou and wideman David Martin.
Jackett has had to shuffle his back four around to accommodate the injury crisis and is playing usual full-backs Jack Smith and Andy Frampton at the heart of defence.
Irishman Alan Dunne plays at right-back, while George Friend, a recent loan signing from Wolves, fills the left-back berth. Jackett is hoping to have former Orient man Alexander available to play up front and is expected to pitch in rookie striker Ashley Grimes alongside him.
David Forde, who replaced current Rovers keeper Rhys Evans soon after Jackett took charge at the New Den, will be between the posts.
