Long pole and red maggot proved to be the successful combination at the Cotswold Water Park for members of the Carpenters Arms 2000 AC.

Top of the scoresheet was Rob Mills, who tempted 15 small carp from the island margins at 16 metres off peg nine.

The runner-up was Neil Carter, who fished the same pole length at peg six for 19-6-0 as did Phil Terry, who came third at peg two with a comparable 18-0-0.

● Local rod, Lance Tucker topped both categories in the first round of the Kev Perry Series, fished on Match Lake at Bullock Farm Fishery, Kingston Seymour.

The Sensas Thyers' team captain poled a variety of baits up to 12 metres off the hot favourite peg 17 on the Chicken Shed bank and included the heaviest silverfish weight of 13.650kg in his 13.650kg overall winning catch.

● The Bitterwell Lake Monday Open turned into a two-man battle between Martin Lenaghan and Bob 'The Bread' Price with the former snatching victory by just 3lb.

The Avon Angling ace drew to fish the hot favourite peg four on the dam wall. He cast a straight lead with a bread hookbait into the carp hole situated four metres to the right of the aerator and landed 39-8-0 of carp to 6lb. Meanwhile, Bob 'The Bread' fished the same area with an identical bait at neighbouring peg five and weighed-in a similar 36-8-0.

The top silverfish catch was taken by Alcove AC's Bill Ferris, who tempted 12-4-0 skimmers and roach

● Martin Lenaghan scraped home to his second major match win in four days at the Avalon Midweek Open.

He fished a pellet waggler close to the island off peg five and brought 16 carp totalling 88-2-0 to the scales.

Dynamite Baits team member Dean Malin came a close second at corner peg 24 where he brought in a 83-14-0 result.

Eric Fouracres finished in third place with a 74-8-0 mixed bag at peg 16. He poled banded pellet over the same at 16 metres centre and his total catch included the top silverfish weight of 15-2-0.

● Dave Evans scored a resounding 85-14-0 victory in the Carps AC match fished on Specimen Lake at Landsend Fisheries, Wedmore.

The Fry's AC member long poled soft pellet into the lakeside margins of corner peg 33 to tempt carp in the 4lb to 8lb class.

The top silverfish catch was taken by Colin Golding in neighbouring peg 34 where he alternated between soft pellet and maggot to tempt 8-12-0 of skimmers and crucian carp
