Mike Ford to write for the Bristol Evening Post
An article by Mike Ford, thisisbristol's most loved and most loathed commenter, will appear in the Bristol Evening Post tomorrow.
Mike has been asked by the editor to share his views on protest groups in Bristol. As usual, he doesn't pull any punches: "Over the last decade, Bristol seems to have been swarmed with counter-culturists, champagne anarchists and well-meaning - but ultimately naïve – upper-middle classes, and it seems their smug impact is finally beginning to be felt."
Mike's article will not appear on thisisbristol. If you want to read it, don't miss tomorrow's Bristol Evening Post.

“Mike,
It¿s Martin again. I present my apologies for my late reply; some of us have better things to do with our time than tippy-tapping away on our keyboards.
Contrary to your inaccurate summary of my post, my previous comment simply stated that I felt that the mainstream media once presented a non-biased view of events and that it is a shame they have moved away from this. I stick by this position. I did not state that your views (however nonsensical, ignorant and bigoted) should be suppressed but rather that there is no place for them in a mainstream media context. As Bristol¿s only mainstream paper, the Evening Post ought to be an establishment where informed, non-biased professionals present facts, unembellished with personal opinion. Instead of this it has chosen to allow itself to become a soap box for the ramblings of a non-representative dogmatist.
Of course you should be allowed to put forth your opinions, over the internet, through your own publication (as the mutineers have done) etc. However, for you to be allowed a column of one-sided, narrow-minded prejudiced spleen, with no space given over to representatives of the activist communities, or indeed any of the many ethnic communities of Bristol, is tantamount to propaganda.
Lastly, you are quiet correct: I have not read your column. I will not be buying the Evening Post if it has become a forum for intolerant soap-box orators. My previous post mourned the loss of non-biased journalism but my criticism of your views was not directed at your article but rather at your comments on thisisbristol. This is the reason I referred to your ¿feeble missives¿ not your feeble article. A minor point, but important, I feel.
I shall not be wasting my time any further with this; the world is simply too full of worthwhile causes and wonderfully beautiful things for me to justify using up my life exchanging posts with a fanatic fantasist. If I am any judge of your character, I am sure you will treat this as a victory. Please feel free to do so. I honestly do not care if that is how you chose to get your kicks and feel like you are an intelligent, reasonable and articulate person. Enjoy it. I¿m off to do better things.
Much Love,
Martin x
P.S. The Martin who said that seat belts don¿t save lives (or whatever it was he said) was not, in fact, me. I have no information on this matter to prove either way. Oh, and DCI Fictional Character: that should be ¿your opinion¿, not ¿you¿re opinion¿. Watch your ****nyms.”

“The irony of an ill informed article criticising ill informed protest.
No mention of 15 year old stunners either.
We're doomed!”
