Midland Junior Premier League - Marcus is on target
Jamie Shore Soccer International Under-13s were unfortunate not to come away from Stourport Swifts with all three points after seeing a two-goal lead slip from their grasp in the Midland Junior Premier League.
Both teams tried to play good football in the difficult conditions, with JSSI looking the more dangerous, but it was Stourport who took the lead against the run of play with a long-range free-kick.
JSSI, who had always looked dangerous from dead-ball situations, hit back in style.
Two Marcus Rankin goals, both following super deliveries into the box, and a Jay Malpass strike gave them a seemingly unassailable 3-1 advantage, only for Stourport to claim a point thanks to two goals from the penalty spot.
JSSI Under-14s recovered from conceding an early goal to beat Corby United 4-3 at home.
Jamar Young and Mac Njie, with a superb overhead strike, scored the crucial second-half goals to seal victory after the visitors had turned a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead.
Simon Moss performed well in goal to deny Corby a late equaliser.
