Middlesbrough trump Bristol City to sign Yeates
Bristol City look set to miss out on Colchester winger Mark Yeates after it emerged Championship rivals Middlesbrough had agreed a fee for the Irishman.
The side recently relegated from the Premier League are understood to have bid £500,000 for the player, pictured, who is also a target for Crystal Palace and Sheffield United.

Yeates was in the North East for a medical and to discuss personal terms; and League One Colchester accept that their prized asset will be leaving.
Colchester chief executive Steve Bradshaw said: "We are aware of Middlesbrough's interest, but it will take a sizeable commitment from them to prize him away from us.
"The chairman doesn't want to stand in the way of players if they get a fantastic opportunity."
If Yeates signs for Boro that could pave the way for England winger Stewart Downing to complete a long- anticipated move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Bristol City's other wide midfield option is Manchester United winger Lee Martin, but they now face competition from Ipswich Town.
Ipswich boss Roy Keane is eager to sign the left-sided player as part of his Portman Road revolution.
City's interest in wingers has prompted speculation that Michael McIndoe could be on his way out of Ashton Gate, perhaps to Sheffield United.
● Bristol City have sold out of season cards for the Wedlock Stand – 1,250 seats – taking the total for sales to more than 10,700.
Fans have until Tuesday to purchase season cards for elsewhere in the ground.

“I told everyone about this days ago. I also know that Martin is expected to have a medical in Ipswich on Monday. Why does the BEP not know this?”

“BEP - why don't you do something other than copy posts on the fans forum?
Lazy journalism yet again.”
