A Michael Jackson skateboard has been stolen from a Bristol pub just days after the "King of Pop" died.

The customised board was painted by local artist Phil Harvey for an exhibition at the Golden Lion on the Gloucester Road.

It has a ghost-like image of the superstar painted in acrylic and spray paint and was mounted on the lounge bar wall.

But on Saturday night – during the pub's Glastonbury weekend event – it went missing.

Freelance illustrator Phil said: "I painted the board exactly a week before the news came out about Michael Jackson's death.

"It's quite strange really. I don't usually paint celebrities and don't do caricatures that often. It was just an on-the-spot decision.

"And what's quite spooky is the way I've painted his face to look so dead and lifeless."

The 28-year-old, of Montpellier, added: "Somebody had marked down to buy the board for about £60, but unfortunately they've lost out because someone's stolen it.

"After Michael Jackson died I had four or five people make enquiries about it and it could have sold for up to £200."

The manager of the pub, James Dunn, is looking at CCTV tapes to shed light on the theft, which he believes happened some time after 10pm, when the pub was very busy.

Meanwhile, Phil hopes someone will feel a pang of guilt and return it to the exhibition, which continues until July 19.
