Methodist's all-rounder Iles puts in a memorable display
North Somerset cricket Saturday leagues round-up:
Craig Iles produced a match-winning performance by taking 6-29 and hitting 53 runs in Midsomer Norton Methodists' 79- run victory over bottom side Grendel 2nds in Division Four of the North Somerset Saturday Conference.
The all rounder came to the crease with his side 67- 3, and went on to make his maiden Conference half-century. He then took six Grendel wickets.
In Division One, Dyrham & Hinton remain top after a 59-run win at Mells.
Martin Millard (135) recorded his first conference century since 2006 and Andrew Lewis followed up with four wickets in Mells' reply.
Wrington lost to Bath 3rds by 59 runs in a low-scoring encounter.
Saltford Fairway continued their climb away from the foot of the table after thrashing Backwell Flax Bourton by 161 runs.
Ben Fillingham was run out for 99, going for his maiden Saturday Conference century, while Jamie Pattimore hit 54.
Old Bristolians Westbury were consigned to bottom spot after losing to fellow strugglers Combe Down by 81 runs.
Knowle West closed the gap on leaders Shoscombe to 2 points after ending the latter's unbeaten record with a 10 wicket win. Shoscombe were dismissed for just 59.
Grendel beat Bristol 3rds by 5 wickets. Phil Marshall was the main stay of the Bristol Innings with 84, before becoming one of five wickets for Grendel's Greg Boast (5-50).
Whitchurch 2nds crashed to their third defeat in a row after an 87 run reverse to Bath Hospitals.
Brislington 3rds recorded their first ever Conference win away at Stanton Drew with victory by 34 runs to condemn the Droopers to their fifth defeat in a row.
Ian Dowding was an important contributor to the Ironmoulders success top scoring with 28 and then following up with 3-8.
Unbeaten Dyrham & Hinton 2nds remain top of Division Three after a dramatic three-run win over Larkhall. as Jason Hendy hit a personal best of 59.
Churchways lost by one wicket at Ston Easton in a thriller. Ston chasing 175, had sunk to 109-8, with four wickets for Churchway's Richard Powell, before staging a brave fight back.
Midsomer Norton 3rds moved further clear of the relegation zone with their first away win this season, beating bottom side GWR Shunters by 10 wickets.
Set just 116 to win, Dave Harvey (68) and youngster Dan Cox (38) saw the Grecians to victory after Steve Green finished with 5-14.
Nailsea made it seven wins in succession to stay top of Division Four after beating Oldfield Park by four wickets.
Wrington remain top of Division Five table recording their seventh win in succession, a five-wicket win over Exiles (Bath) 2nds. A 48-run sixth-wicket stand between Ken Duthie (30) and David Fowler (19) saw Wrington home.
Keynsham remain in second place after a five-wicket win over fourth-placed Timsbury as Jack Williams struck 72 and Jack Boulton took three wickets.
Nailsea 4ths overcame Bitton by four wickets as club coach Terry Robinson finished with 4-23.
