Extra-time goals from Tyrone McNally and Dale Attwell gave Mendip United a 5-3 home win against Pucklechurch in the first round of the Bristol Premier Combination Cup at Filwood.

Pucklechurch, who twice took the lead, had Bradley Flook (2) and Morgan Holmes (penalty) on target, only to be pegged back by replies from Mike Berry, McNally and Dean Maggs, who converted a last-minute spot-kick to save last season's Premier Division champions from defeat.

"Pucklechurch played well and we were a bit lucky," admitted Mendip manager Richard O'Connor.

The Keen family had plenty to celebrate following South Bristol Central's comfortable 4-0 home victory against Highridge Reserves.

Manager Paul Keen was pleased with the performances of his 17-year-old son Ben in defence, brother Steve in goal and his other sibling Terry, who opened the scoring in the second half. Also on the mark were Luke Baddock, Shaun Killick and Matt Sweet, who completed the tally in the last minute.

A depleted Brimsham Green team, weakened by injuries and holidays, crashed 4-0 at home to St Philips MAS, who led 1-0 at the break thanks to James Shipman.

The hosts ran out of steam in the closing stages and goals in the last 10 minutes from Luke Bigwood, Ryan Haskins and Shipman sealed victory for Saints.

Paul Griffiths headed Hallen Reserves in front at home to Longwell Green Reserves and scored again with a left-foot drive just before half-time. Heavy pressure by the visitors was rewarded with a reply from Craig Medine but the Hallen defence survived the second-half onslaught to emerge 2-1 winners.

"We had all the play after half-time but could not get an equaliser," said Longwell Green's disappointed manager Nick Marsh.

Totterdown United won 2-1 at home to Frampton Athletic, who were rocked by an early double from the lively Matthew Sweet.

Frampton hit back when Clayton McFarlane gave no chance to the Totts' goalkeeper, Ashley Martin, who later kept the visitors at bay with several fine saves.

"This was a disappointing result, as we have already Totterdown 4-1 in the league," said Frampton manager Jeff Thomas.

Ian Pace netted a consolation for Winterbourne Reserves, beaten 2-1 at Talbot Knowle, who took an early lead through Kevin Gaull.

Rob Mizen slotted in the second goal after coming on as a substitute, then Talbot's defence stood firm in the face of late pressure from Winterbourne.

Henbury Reserves went down 3-1 at home to Fishponds Athletic, whose marksmen were Joe Goldworthy and player-manager Ali Stewart, before Aaron Angin hit back.

Missed chances by Luke Mathison, Kai Holmes and Denny Chapman proved costly for Lawrence Rovers as they lost 1-0 at home to Seymour United. Dean Taylor struck the decisive blow 10 minues from time after a quick breakaway.

Oldland Abbotonians Reserves were also single-goal victors away to Bitton Reserves, who were sunk by Jamie Bryant's half-volley in the closing stages.

Goalkeeper Lee Portch was the toast of Olveston after saving the vital penalty in the 6-5 spot-kick shoot-out success against Greyfriars Athletic following a 0-0 extra-time draw.
