Mendip United came from behind to beat Winford PH 3-1 in the first round of the 39th Fry Club Cup at Somerdale.

The Bristol Premier Combination champions trailed in the second minute when Ross Miller netted direct from a corner, but they quickly equalised through Dale Attiwell.

Heavy Mendip pressure was rewarded with further goals from Andrew Talbot and Aaron Ford as the Suburban League team faded from the game.

Henbury ran out comfortable 4-0 winners against Fry Club, who had little to offer in attack in a one-sided game. George Watts, Harry Bartlett, James Reynolds and Adam Rosser were on target for Henbury, whose opponents in next Tuesday's second round will be Mangotsfield, who scraped home 2-1 against Cadbury Heath.

After a goalless first half, Adam Scott put Mangotsfield in front, before Liam Plantern levelled for Heath, who were sunk by a late strike from Matt Brown.

Tonight's first-round ties: Broad Plain v Rockleaze Avonside, Hanham v CTK Southside and Yate Town v Nicholas Wanderers.
