Speaking to The Post straight after her coronation, she said: "It's been an amazing experience.

"My mum made me enter so I suppose I will have to thank her. Funnily enough, she is in Dubai at the moment so will be fast asleep.

"I can't wait to tell her.

"I like to think I'm an outgoing person but have to admit I suffered a mini panic attack during the competition.

"All the contestants were so nice. I didn't think I had a chance because they were all so gorgeous, so when they announced my name it was a genuine surprise.

"Now I'll be going to Torquay in June for Miss England. I can't believe it."

Runners-up were Amelia Watt, a 23-year-old supply teacher from Corsham in Wiltshire and Cassie Wilkins.

The Miss Popularity title was won by Nichole Howland, 20, of Littledene in Gloucestershire, while Katie Ray won both the Miss Charity and Miss Beautiful Hair titles.

The evening was compered by former Miss Bristol winner Amy Willerton, who went on to come fifth in last year's Miss England contest and also found TV fame on the Sky Living show Signed By Katie Price.

Miss Willerton was joined by the current Mr England, Roland Johnson.

The judges at the event, which was held at the hotel's Forest Suite, were David Douglas of organisers the Front Academy, last year's winner of the title, Carly Rugman, and Charlotte Holmes, who is the reigning Miss England and a former contestant on TV show Britain's Next Top Model.

An audience of more than 50 people watched as the drama unfolded.

It took more than two hours to select a winner.

The Miss England final is on June 15 and 16 at the International Riviera conference Centre in Torquay.

The winner of Miss England 2013 will visit Mauritius to compete in Miss World.

“She is not from Bristol so shouldn't have been able to enter.”

“A tidy looking lassie for sure, but I am disappointed that she is not Bristol born and bred.

There are plenty of bang tidy local girls who would give posh tottie Ingram Walpole a run for her money.

She hails from Surrey, mummy is in Dubai...nuff said.”
