Meet the heads: Justin Chippendale, King's hall, Taunton
King's Hall School in Taunton, Somerset, welcomes new
Headmaster, Justin Chippendale, for the start of the 2009 academic year.
Mr James Macpherson, the highly respected and successful
headmaster for the past nine years, retired at the end of the 2009 summer term.
Justin (42) was previously the Deputy Head at Chafyn Grove School in Salisbury.
He also taught at the Dragon School in Oxford where he was a popular and
successful Housemaster. In his younger years he attended the Dragon School from
where he won a scholarship to King’s College, King’s Hall’s associated senior
school, in 1980.
A keen sportsman, Justin captained rugby, hockey and cricket
teams as a pupil and still coaches sport to pupils and regularly taking part in
outdoor pursuits.
Justin feels privileged to be taking over: “On my first visits to
King’s Hall I was struck by the tangible warmth and friendliness of children,
staff and parents. The school hums with life and laughter as the children and
teachers apply themselves with great energy to create a wonderful environment
for learning. Children benefit from a genuinely rounded education where each
individual is encouraged to fulfil their own potential not only academically but
also to take advantage of the plentiful opportunities presented to them in areas
such as music, sport, drama and art.
“For parents, choosing a school has many parallels to buying a
house. One instinctively knows when viewing a new property if it feels right, if
you could make it your home. It is the same with schools - you know almost
instantly if it is where you would wish your family to belong. I can report with
great confidence that King’s Hall is somewhere both myself and my family feel we
already belong.”
King’s Hall School and King’s College hold Open Days on Saturday
October 3. For both an RSVP is required: Contact the school on 01823 285921, the
college on 01823 328204.www.kingsschools taunton.co.uk.
