Taking over the Headship of such a prestigious school is a

wonderful, exciting challenge,” explains Helen Davy, the new Head of

Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls.

“I understood only too well what the girls joining HMSG felt this

term as they arrived here for the first time, full of hope and anticipation.

“This is a school filled with energy and happiness – there is a

sense that girls can achieve extraordinary things with the support and

encouragement of the staff and fellow pupils.

“With a mixture of day and boarding pupils aged seven to 18, HMSG

creates a sense of community, where we live and work together and genuinely care

about each other.

“Academic results are impressive, with a 100 per cent pass rate

at A-level now a regular achievement. But this independent girls’ school, offers

much, much more than just a set of grades.

“Girls enjoy a wide range of sports, including lacrosse, hockey,

fencing and rowing. Many compete at a national or international level, regularly

pursuing those interests into university and beyond.

“Whether a pupil’s passion is for music, drama, photography,

dance, CCF or a Duke of Edinburgh Award, the school will encourage her to reach

a high standard. It nurtures a ‘can-do’ spirit, facilitating the girls’ growing

self-confidence.

“At all ages, your daughter will be encouraged to take

responsibility, to experience teamwork and leadership, to encounter challenge

and to think for themselves and to manage their time wisely.

“HMSG inspires girls to aim high and achieve success in a variety

of fields; with past pupils pursuing careers as varied as engineering, science,

the media, medicine, the arts, politics and law.”
