A Hotwells mum-of-three has used her love of marathon running and skills in the kitchen to write a book of energy-boosting recipes for athletes.

Kate Percy, who will be taking part in the Bristol Half Marathon, will be signing copies of her book Go Faster Food at Borders on Queens Road tomorrow from 11.30am to 12.30pm.

The book is a nutrition guide and easy-to-use recipe book geared specifically towards runners and active people with energy-boosting recipes, such as Moorish lamb kebabs on saffron rice, designed to help athletes increase their stamina and achieve their personal best

She said: "All athletes, amateur and elite, have unique nutritional demands, and eating the right food can have a dramatic effect on stamina and performance.

"Failing to stick to the right eating habits means athletes risk becoming lethargic, lack energy and are unable to fulfil their full potential."

Ms Percy took up marathon running in 2004 and has run many half marathons and cross-country races, as well as full marathons in London, New York, Berlin and Amsterdam. She writes columns on energy-boosting food and has a blog on her site www.gofasterfood.com.
