Medals and sausages at Bristol softball event
The Bristol Softball Association held the inaugral Charity Shield and End of Season softball BBQ on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the Abbotts Leigh Cricket Club.
Under cobalt blue skies an audience of approximately 170 people watched as Division 1 Champions, LSDs, played the All Stars team, which was made up of the seasons MVPs from each division and managed by Mark Fenton.
LSDs got an early lead with some outstanding batting, and by closing the All Stars down in the first innings.
However, the All Stars held their nerve and chipped back at LSDs for the next couple of innings and both teams were even at the 4th.
LSDs were out-batted by the All Stars, who grew in confidence and strength and went on to win the game.
After the game and the BBQ that was well received by all, everyone squeezed into the cricket club pavillion for the prize-giving ceremony, where prizes were awarded for all MVPs, winners and runners-up of all Divisions.
Chris Moon, Chairman of the BSA concluded the prizegiving by awarding his Chairman's Award for Outstanding Contribution to the BSA to two individuals this year. Jo Stretton, Treasurer and Saghi Zarbafi, Tournaments and Communications Officer.
The evening raised £242.80 for The Wallace and Gromit Grand Appeal - the chosen charity of LSDs as winners of Division 1.
The Bristol Softball Association would particularly like to thank T-Shirt Printing and More for their sponshorship of the Charity Shield and the engraving of all the awards.
