Mayors from across the West joined Bristol City Council members and officials at their annual civic service at the Lord Mayor's Chapel, the only council-owned church in the country.

Guests included the mayors of Swindon, Tewkesbury, Gloucester, Bath, Wells and Weston-super-Mare and chairmen and women from many other councils, including North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, and the vice-chairman of Bath and North East Somerset Council.

Bristol's Lord Mayor, Chris Davies, and the Lady Mayoress were carried from the Mansion House to the Council House in the council's official car for the Passion Sunday Service.

They and the other invited guests then processed in their official regalia with Bristol city councillors and officers across to the Lord Mayor's Chapel, also known as St Mark's, on the other side of College Green, for a service led by the Rev Prebendary Harold Clarke, the Lord Mayor's Chaplain. The preacher was the Rev Bob Mills, chaplain to Broadmead and Cabot Circus.
