Max and Denym hit the hat-trick trail as Stoke Lane sweep to victory over Coalpit Heath
Hanham Minor League Under-9s: Max Butcher and Denym Di Mauro both hit hat-tricks as Stoke Lane turned in two strong team performances to beat Coalpit Heath 11-4 in Division A.
A flurry of second-half goals clinched a 7-2 victory in the first game. Butcher fired four of them, Mitchell Bombroff scored twice, the second a superb individual effort, and George Bryan capped a commanding captain's performance with a well-taken finish.
Lane took a hard-fought second game 4-2 thanks to Di Mauro's classy triple and a long-range strike from debutant Joseph Cook, who played well in midfield.
Liam Whitrow produced a fabulous defensive display as Highridge United came away from Keynsham Town with a 7-3 aggregate victory in another Division A clash.
The first match ended 2-2, Keynsham going 2-0 up, despite Whitrow's sterling efforts and some solid goalkeeping by James Hayter. With Jack Greenslade and Bradley Caton strong in midfield and Simon Kane shining, Highridge fought back to level the match with late second-half goals by Cody Stiddard and Brandon Baxter.
The second match was a more one-sided affair. Dean Hill netted Highridge's first with a fierce shot and Jordan Pratt, who ran the midfield, scored two magnificent goals and then completed his hat-trick with a coolly-taken penalty.
Declan Hurst rounded off a fine performance with a fifth goal. Ben Rush and Highridge's star man Jake Minton were superb in defence, as was keeper Hayden Dullaghan, although Keynsham did net a consolation goal following a goalmouth scramble.
Bristol Rovers JSC won both their fixtures to take the Division A tussle with Avon Athletic 8-2.
Two goals from Danny Ball and a Ricky Kirby strike clinched a 3-2 first-game success.
Rovers took a fourth-minute lead in game two when a Ben Alexander corner was headed into his own net by an Avon defender.
Two goals each from Sam Hutchinson and Alexander wrapped up a 5-0 win.
Mangotsfield United turned on the style to hit six goals without reply over their two Division B games with AEK Boco.
With Jake Oliver marshalling them well at the back, Field went into the break 2-0 up thanks to Joshua Treadgold's finish from a super Archie Clark corner, and leading scorer James Flowers.
Star man Treadgold got his second with a fine turn and volley from close range before Lloyd Wintle netted his first goal for the A team with a well-taken individual effort
Matthew Toghill and Rees Hacker sealed a 2-0 win in game two, while Tom Evan earned his first man-of-the-match award for a super display.
Longwell Green SC squeezed out a 4-3 victory over two competitive Division B games with Bradley Stoke United.
Joe Harding opened the scoring for Longwell in game one, although it took three fabulous saves from Jamie Griffin to keep them ahead at half-time.
Harding went on to complete his hat-trick in the second half, but Bradley Stoke twice cut the deficit and only some sound defending by Danny Ferris and George Honeywell prevented an eequaliser as the game finished 3-2. James Gulliford scored for Longwell in game two, which ended 1-1, while Josh Rogers and Ben Bielecki had shots well saved as Longwell pushed for a winner.
A determined fightback from Whitchurch Sports was not enough to overturn a first-game deficit against a strong Henbury Colts team.
Billy Rice-Hanlon scored for Whitchurch as they went down 5-1 in the opening match.
Two goals from Chesney Blackett and one apiece for Jay Selway and Sam Duncan in the second game gave the Whites hope, but time ran out with the game finishing 4-2 in their favour and Henbury taking the overall honours 7-5.
Brislington Juniors got off to a flying start away to Thornbury Falcons, with William Thomas shooting them into the lead with a cool finish in a 5-1 first-game romp.
Jack Goddard grabbed the first of his three goals before half-time and Thomas netted with another well-taken effort to complete his brace.
Brislington were made to battle hard in the second game as they fell to a narrow 3-2 defeat. Niall Hennessy fired them ahead, only for Falcons to strike back with a fine goal before adding another just before half-time.
Lewis Osmond scored to level for Brislington but again the home side responded well to take the honours, although it was their opponents who were left celebrating a 7-4 aggregate win.
Downend Saints avenged their only Division C defeat of the season with a superb display against Bristol Spartak.
Saints won game one 1-0 with a powerful finish by Jack Brice, who was cleverly played in by Luke Patel.
Spartak came back strongly but were denied clear chances by the outstanding defensive duo of star man Andrew Clark and Joseph Porter. James Carling came close to increasing Saints lead but was thwarted by two super saves.
Keeper Joseph Coffin was Brislington's man-of-the-match in game two with some magnificent saves, although he was powerless to prevent Spartak going in front in the second half.
Coffin set up Saints' equaliser, his clearance skillfully controlled by Karl Bessell, who turned brilliantly before setting up Mulrenan with a precision pass to finish emphatically with his left foot.
With Max Wright commanding Saints' defence, it was his side who found the decisive third goal. Ben Norman played in substitute James Moreton, whose excellent turn and shot crashed in off the far post to clinch an aggregate 3-1 victory.
