Matt's finish saves the day for Glass
A 75th-minute equaliser from Matt Brown saved the unbeaten record of Premier Division leaders Bitton Reserves in a 1-1 draw at Roman Glass St George Reserves.
Saints, who also have yet to taste defeat in the league this season, took the lead midway through the first half when Dean Delphy netted from close range after the Bitton defence failed to clear Selwyn Msakwa's cross – and only a series of fine saves by keeper Dan Langdon prevented further goals.
Bitton responded to a half-time pep-talk from manager Gary Brown with an improved display after the break and he was relieved to see his son Matt level the scores with a crisp left-foot drive.
Both teams pushed forward for a late decider and Saints keeper Mark Aldridge made some good saves to keep the visitors at bay and earn his side a point.
Promoted Mendip United retained their 100 per cent record with a 3-0 away win over Brimsham Green, who had a player sent off in the 15th minute and ran out of steam in the closing stages.
Dean Madge was the hat-trick hero for Mendip, scoring with right-foot and left-foot shots and then with a header in the last 20 minutes to end the hopes of depleted Brimsham.
A convincing 5-2 victory at Highridge Reserves kept Nicholas Wanderers in the race for honours with the help of a second-half hat-trick from substitute Gareth Clemence.
Also on target for Wanderers were Steve Goodyear and James Clark, with a speculative cross-shot, before the home side hit back through a Sam Nicholls own goal and Steve Dowling.
Talbot Knowle avenged a recent League Cup defeat by St Philips MAS with a comfortable 4-0 home success.
All the goals came in the second half. Lee Perks marked his return to the club following a short spell at Brislington by scoring twice before Mark Leigh and Joe Moore completed the tally.
Inconsistent Hartcliffe came from behind to win 3-1 away to Hallen Reserves, who went in front with an opportunist effort from Tony Beacham.
Hartcliffe replied with strikes by Mitchell Nott, Dave Wyatt and Ricky Ryan to keep in touch with the leading group.
Pucklechurch lost for the second time since being relegated from the Gloucestershire County League after failing to reply to second-half goals from Matt Denton and Jamie Carrick at Wick.
South Bristol Central staged a remarkable recovery away to Winterbourne Reserves, who raced into an early 2-0 lead thanks to Max Plant and Sean Cooper.
A half-time roasting from player-manager Paul Keen worked wonders for SBC, who bounced back to snatch a 3-2 win. Former Highridge striker John Miles scored twice before Lee Webb netted the late decider with a 30- yard screamer.
Longwell Green Reserves took over top spot in Division I from Oldland Abbotonians, who were without a game, courtesy of a 6-1 home romp against below-strength Greyfriars.
Friars manager Dan White and six of his squad were away in Edinburgh at a stag party for team-mate Mike Weaver. Mark Ashley sparked off the scoring spree with a treble, then Simon Walker, Joe Cole and Matt Jackson completed the rout, all the goals coming in a one-sided opening half.
St Mary's player-manager Ali Stewart scored for the third week in succession but failed to prevent a 2-1 defeat away to Henbury Reserves, whose fightback was inspired by Adam Russell's double in the final three minutes.
Adam Coombs turned the ball into his own net to present Frampton Athletic with a consolation before scoring at the other end in a runaway 4-1 away victory for Totterdown Athletic.
Martin Cox (2) and Matty Sweet were also on target for the Totts, who are making a bold bid to return to the Premier Division at the first attempt following last season's relegation.
Draw specialists Patchway Reserves shared four goals at home to Hillfields OB, who led 2-1 through Mike Goldings and Nathan Bell only to be pegged back by a late equaliser.
Ben Purdy netted during a bright opening by Patchway, who were saved by a 40-yard piledriver from Chris Hawkins in the closing stages.
"We started and finished well but lost it in the middle of the game," said Patchway player-manager Andy England.
Struggling Olveston dropped into the bottom three following a 1-0 home reverse against Shaftesbury Crusade, whose match-winner was Kevin Mills.
