Match report, 16th September 2012: Portishead Town Juniors V Nailsea United

Portishead Town Juniors 10 (Kieran Smith,1: 9mins, Matt Twiggs, 2:11mins, 26 mins, Archie Denness, 1: 15mins, Harvey Williams,1 : 21 mins, Jay Murray, 2: 35, 50 mins, Dylan Hebblethwaite, 2: 43 mins, 52 mins, Kieran Noble, 1: 58 mins), Nailsea United 2 (Harrison Clothier :27 mins, Jordan Freear: 34mins). 

Portishead continued their impressive start to the season with a 10-2 victory over Nailsea. There was early tension as the referee approached nervous parents with the linesman's flag, but after Andy Davis performed an invisible man act, Paul Smith stepped into the breach to grasp the 'baton'..There was an energetic performance by the towering linesman, who was quick to dispel rumours that he was keen to repeat his duties for the next home fixture.

The first goal came after an free flowing move involving Jay  and Morgan Davies with Kieran Smith finishing at close range. Portishead 1- Nailsea 0. Goal two was a close range 'cheeky' header from Matt Twiggs, Portishead 2- Nailsea 0. Goal three was a wonderful 20 yard strike from Archie Denness, Portishead 3- Nailsea 0. Goal 4 was a great first time strike from Harvey Williams from a deep cross from Warner Stephens. Portishead 4- Nailsea 0. Goal four came from a great sequence of passes along the ground from the back, culminating in a searing run and shot from Matt Twiggs. Portishead 5- Nailsea 0. Nailsea then caught Portishead out following a rare lapse of concentration. Harrison Clothier scoring a cracker that left posset keeper, Cody O'Neill with no chance just before half time. Portishead 5- Nailsea 1.

Portishead's number 6 came after another excellent cross from the tireless Morgan Davies, which was drilled in by Jay Murray after 36mins. Portishead 6- Nailsea 1. Nailsea pulled another back after some midfield flapping, Portishead 6- Nailsea 2. Portishead responded rapidly at 43 minutes, Dylan Hebblethwaite meeting Jay Murray's corner to drill into the net. Portishead 7- Nailsea 2. Stephen Waite continued to test the Nailsea offside trap prior to Jay chipping in Portishead goal number eight. Portishead 8- Nailsea 2. Portishead then progressed into fluid passing moves as Nailsea struggled for possession. Dylan Hebblethwaite then powerfully headed in Jay Murray's overhead kick to make it nine. Portishead 9, Nailsea 2. Warner drilled another corner in which was met by Kieran Noble. Portishead 10- Nailsea 2.

In summary an extremely fluid and entertaining performance from Portishead, backed up by solid defensive play by Harvey Williams, Kieran Noble, Josh Davies, Stephen Waite and Cody O'Neill.
