Mark Regan: Bristol Rugby face another test after seeing off Moseley
Mark Regan column - Bristol Rugby completed their expected win over Moseley last weekend – but only just.
It was a lacklustre affair which seemed to sum up all of Bristol's performances so far this season as they limped over the finishing line when they should really have seen off Moseley sooner.
-

It all started so promisingly for Bristol when David Blaney broke through early on, but they were unable to keep the pressure on Moseley.
But the visitors were no mugs and showed why they were able to beat Leeds last year in the EDF National Trophy. They keep coming at you and they don't give you a minute's peace.
Their tenacity really did seem to upset Bristol, but it is something that Bristol will have to get used to.
Teams like Moseley and this week's opponents, Doncaster, will have pencilled in the Bristol fixture almost from the start of the season as a chance to put one over the team relegated from the Guinness Premiership.
Doncaster have had some serious injury problems but Castle Park is never an easy place to go and, if Bristol are not careful, Doncaster can upset them.
The Yorkshire side are beginning to show what they are made of and the win at Plymouth last week demonstrates that they must be a real threat.
Even though they have only five points so far this season, their sluggish start has been put behind them and Bristol will have to put in a real shift to get the better of them.
I know that Paul Hull favours a controlled kicking game, but that is dependent on the kicks being good enough to chase.
All that seems to happen is that Bristol Rugby are kicking the ball away.
I really would like to see them keep hold of the ball for longer periods and go through the phases so that they can break teams down by exploiting holes that appear.
I must praise the boys at Clifton for the way that they have gone about their business so far this campaign.
Lying third in the table with five wins out of seven has been a wonderful achievement.
For many at the club, survival would have been enough at the start of season. But now we're looking at doing more than surviving and we are confident we can compete at the top end of the table.
The boys have this weekend off, which has come at a good time for us as we have picked up a few injuries over the last couple of weeks.
I also must single out the boys from St Brendan's College, where I also coach. They had a hard-fought victory over Gloucester College and it's always nice for a Bristol side to put one over a Gloucester outfit.
Finally, if you haven't had enough of Strictly Come Dancing, you can come and see me try to emulate the celebrities by dancing alongside Karen Hardy at a charity event in aid of the Bristol Children's Hospital on November 27 at the Marriott Hotel. Tickets are available on 0871 871 5300.
