BORN in Jamaica, Margaret came to England in the 1960s, living at first with her sister Kath in Easton.
She soon managed to get a job as a machinist in a factory and after marrying her taxi-driver husband, Clarence, they bought a house in Clovelly Close in Easton.
They set up their own firm called Andy's Taxi's which was named after their first son and which they ran for many years.
After they sold the business, they both moved back to Jamaica for several years before returning to Bristol in the early 1990s.
On her return, Margaret took a job as a support worker in a care home where she was very popular and well-respected.
She was a devout Christian and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Ashley Road, St Paul's.
Her son, Andy, said: "She was a very kindhearted woman who was known by many people. She was very devout and would pray for anyone. She was a great mum to us."
Her sister, Kath Prendergast, said: "She was a very private, caring person. She loved her garden, she loved her boys and her grandchildren."
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Ashley Road, starting at 11am.
