Trescothick rules out England return for Ashes finale
Marcus Trescothick last night ruled out an England comeback for the final Ashes Test at the Oval.
Following yesterday's innings and 80 runs defeat to Australia at Headingley, Trescothick was mentioned by Sky pundits as a player who could stiffen the England batting, which collapsed twice as the tourists levelled the series at 1-1.

Trescothick quashes talk of an England return
The Somerset opener is the leading batsman in the county game having scored his sixth hundred of the season against Warwickshire on Saturday.
But Trescothick, who stood down from international cricket in March last year, was firm, even when it was suggested he might be offered a one-off, no strings attached appearance. "I'm retired," he said. "It's done and dusted."
Trescothick also warned against panic team changes in response to the heavy defeat.
"I think you have to be careful now not to throw everybody out and bring new people in," he said. "The team we have got now is the best team in the country, Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff apart."

“It's a great pity that Marcus cannot be persuaded to return to the test arena for just this final Ashes match.
Too many of the current batsmen seem shell shocked and the Australian team has their measure.”
