Manufacturers unveil their new models for 2013
THE biennial Cologne Intermot was held earlier this month with the world's major motor- cycle manufacturers unveiling their new and updated models – many of which are destined to make their UK debut at Motorcycle Live 2012 from November 24 to December 2.
As Intermot's media day unfolded, Yamaha, Aprilia, KTM, Triumph, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, BMW Motorrad, Harley-Davidson, Ducati and Zero each took turns to reveal to their new machinery.
Kawasaki kicked off the day's proceedings with the unveiling of the new Z800 supernaked middleweight, which features many engine, chassis and rider-friendly upgrades. BMW Motorrad took the opportunity to launch the new water-cooled R1200 GS on home turf. The German giant is billing its update to the world's best-selling adventure model as the "perfection of an icon".
Meanwhile, Yamaha unveiled its reinforced line-up for 2013 with a number of upgraded models, including the FJR1300A and the FJR1300AS sport tourers, which benefit from significant engine and chassis changes. Aprilia also announced various updates to its existing models, including the addition of ABS to the RSV4 Factory superbike.

Back in the travel segment, KTM aims to set a new standard in the sector with the official launch of its new-for-2013 1190 Adventure.
Triumph revealed the redesigned Street Triple and Street Triple R, with updates to the popular all- rounder including an all-new chassis.
Honda was next up with the unveiling of two new models set to make an appearance at Motorcycle Live – the CB1100 classic naked and the NSC50R 50cc scooter.
Harley-Davidson announced its new line-up prior to Cologne, however the iconic American brand showcased a range of limited-edition models to celebrate its 110th anniversary in 2013.
Suzuki made five model announcements, with the all-new V-Strom Concept taking centre stage as the manufacturer's most advanced adventure-style machine ever. The day came to a close with Ducati and the debut of the revamped 2013 Multistrada 1200 and the brand new 1199 Panigale RS13.
Electric motorcycle manufacturer Zero – which will appear at Motorcycle Live for the first time this year – announced its 2013 model line, which features an average power increase of 99 per cent and the world's longest-range production electric motorcycle, the Zero S.
All the new machines revealed at Cologne Intermot – plus many, many more – will be on display at Motorcycle Live 2012.
