Former Bristol Rovers youth-team player Matt Knapman has become Phil Bater's latest signing as he continues his rebuilding job at Mangotsfield United.

The 22-year-old left-sided midfielder saw his hopes of becoming a professional disappear with a bad injury which forced him to miss two seasons. He relaunched his career at Bitton in the 2007-8 campaign and was a key player as Andy Black's side won the Toolstation League Premier Division title last season.

Knapman is Bater's second signing since Mangotsfield were relegated, after capturing goalkeeper Tony Court from Yate Town last week. Bater confirmed that Neil Arndale would be staying at Cossham Street. but Ellis Wilmot has left the club.

Mangotsfield have arranged a pre-season friendly with Premiership club Stoke City. Manager Tony Pulis has agreed to bring a Stoke XI to Cossham Street on Wednesday, July 29.
