Mangotsfield United 3 Gillingham Town 0: Mangotsfield United secured their place in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup with a comfortable home win over Toolstation League First Division side Gillingham.

The Cossham Street outfit will face Truro City in the next round after seeing off opponents who finished the match with nine men.

The hosts took the lead after just two minutes, when a well-worked corner routine saw Kyle Tooze play the ball to the angle of the penalty area, where Neil Arndale met it with a drive that flew into the net.

Tooze was the creator again for Mangotsfield's second, setting up the chance for Danny Spill to score after 17 minutes.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men after 33 minutes, when Jamie Manley was sent off for a foul on Tooze, and Mangotsfield had the game sewn up in the opening minutes of the second half after central defender Mike Trought got forward to head in a far-post cross from Arndale.

Gillignham suffered a further blow when they were reduced to nine men after 64 minutes, when Lee Gale was red-carded for apparently kicking the ball at one of the assistant referees.

Paige, Pilling and defender Rob Smith, who was foiled by a superb save from goalkeeper Jamie Beale, all went close to increasing the Mangotsfield lead.
