Mangotsfield go down to another home defeat
MANGOTSFIELD United suffered a seventh home league defeat of the season after a goal in each half secured the points for Taunton.
Taunton were awarded a penalty inside the opening two minutes after Tom Parrinello handled. However, the opportunity went begging as Rodney Marsh dragged his shot wide of the left-hand upright.
Shaun Lamb saved Mangotsfield in the 13th minute when covering across from the left to deny Carl Cliff Brown, who, after latching on to a ball over the top and making ground into the penalty area, was about to pull the trigger.
Just past the midway point of the half, a goalline clearance denied Mangotsfield after Todd Winter was slid in on the right of the area, where he went around Christian Watts to guide the ball towards the unguarded net, only for covering defender Jamie Short to slide in and divert the ball behind for a corner.

From the corner, the unmarked Ryan Bath should have done better than head wide of the left upright from six yards.
Four minutes later, after being awarded a free-kick 25 yards out, Matt Thorne went close with a strike which landed on the roof of the net.
The opening goal came on 31 minutes when the Mangotsfield defence were unable to deal with Craig Herrod's long ball, which sent Marsh away to place the ball low past Kevin Sawyer.
Mangotsfield responded well and Shaun Lamb saw his strike from the left side of the area turned behind by Christian Watts.
The last action of the half saw another goalline clearance deny Mangotsfield. This time, a free-kick from the right was guided back for Winter, whose header back towards goal was cleared away.
In the 49th minute, Taunton were gifted a second goal when Sawyer was unable to deal with an awkward back pass from Winter.
He lost control of the ball on the left edge of the area, which allowed Herrod to nip in and side-foot into the unguarded net.
Within three minutes, an already uphill task was made even harder by the dismissal of Bath, who was shown a straight red for a challenge on Taunton's Simon Ingram.
The first of two second-half changes for Mangotsfield came on 57 minutes with the introduction of Adnan Hiroli for Matt Thorne.
On the hour mark, Winter fired a shot across the face of goal and wide of the right-hand upright.
Minutes later, a half-chance fell to Winter, but again the target proved elusive as his effort from the left side of the area also went across goal and harmlessly wide.
At the other end, Sawyer was called into action on 66 minutes, saving low down at the foot of his right-hand post to deny Herrod.
Mangotsfield were offered hope of a late comeback when they pulled a goal back from the penalty spot through Shaun Lamb on 76 minutes after Owen Irish had brought down Kyle Thomas.
Despite this, Mangotsfield failed to create a clear-cut chance during the remainder of the match.
The only opening fell to Taunton's Marsh on 77 minutes, but his volley directed towards the bottom right corner was turned behind by Sawyer.
A second change for Mangotsfield came on 83 minutes and saw Ben Hunt come on for Parrinello as the hosts went searching in vain for a late leveller.
