Forest Green have blocked Mangotsfield's bid to have their FA Cup fourth qualifying round game at Cossham Street moved back 24 hours to next Sunday.

The Blue Square Premier side's manager Dave Hockaday "would not budge" on the matter, according to Mangotsfield chairman Mike Richardson.

The game will now be played next Saturday – the same day as Bristol Rovers' derby with Yeovil Town at the Memorial Stadium.

Mangotsfield and the Pirates share some stewards and the Southern League club was hoping for a bumper crowd if the game had been put back.

Richardson said: "It is disappointing really. We would have got a big crowd on Sunday but their manager feels their training is all geared to Saturday, so that is why he wouldn't change.

"Forest Green are going to lend us some of their stewards, so it shouldn't be a problem."

“If FGR beat the Mangos and are drawn at home to, say, Leeds in the next round no doubt we can expect a refusal from them if a tv company offers to televise the game live on a Sunday.

Can't have their training schedule broken up, can we?”
