TWO late goals gave Mangotsfield United victory over local rivals Clevedon Town to reach the second round of the BGB Southern League GX Cup.

Clevedon were denied an early lead by a brilliant save from Mangotsfield keeper Josh Clapham who went full length to turn a low drive from Hanin Romdhane behind for a corner and then Jake Harris missed a close range chance of giving them the lead.

Clapham then saved at the feet of Harris who was then twice denied by brilliant point blank saves from the busy Clapham.

Mangotsfield were forced to reshuffle when losing central defender Scott Hendy, but they were denied the lead by a brilliant save from Danny Greaves in the Clevedon goal to turn a Tom Collett shot behind for a corner.

Another good run by Collett created the opening for Mitchell Tippins to beat Greaves from close range to give Mangotsfield the lead minutes before the interval.

Clevedon deservedly got back on terms ten minutes into the second half through Kyle Bassett after Pete Sheppard had created the opening.

And minutes later Clapham was again in action to twice deny substitute Chris Pearce.

Collett had a goal disallowed in the 80th minute but Mangotsfield struck to regain the lead four minutes later when Marcus Duharty headed in from a corner.

Minutes later Duharty was unlucky to see his header from another corner hit the upright with Greaves beaten but then in injury time Shaun Morris clinched victory for the home side with a third goal.
