Mangotsfield United 3 Wantage Town 0

Mangotsfield United proved too strong for Hellenic League Premier Division opponents Wantage Town to reach the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

They should have taken the lead in the first minute, when Jason Wood's free-kick into the goalmouth caused confusion, but Kyle Tooze hampered team-mate Scott Hendy and the chance was wasted.

Wood's free-kicks and corners proved a constant threat to the Wantage defence and created the opening for Mangotsfield to take the lead in the ninth minute.

A corner was played back to Wood, who crossed for central defender Mike Trought to head home from close range.

Trought headed in again to make it 2-0 in the 19th minute, after a Wood corner was flicked on by skipper Hendy.

Tooze then failed to take a chance to increase the lead and Wantage regrouped in the second half to put the hosts on the defensive.

Mangotsfield goalkeeper Tony Court was called into action to deny Richard Guy and Gavin Jones before the home side settled again to take control of the game.

Mangotsfield clinched victory with a third goal in the 69th minute, when Neil Arndale's cross was turned in by substitute Luke Prosser.
