Mangotsfield United boss in player hunt after Bedford Town defeat
Mangotsfield manager Paul Milsom is continuing his search to strengthen his squad after watching them slip to their fifth successive BGB Premier Division defeat at rain swept Bedford Town.
Milsom is talking to a couple of players in a bid to sign them in time for Saturday's home League game against fellow strugglers Rugby Town.
Conditions were difficult and Mangotsfield quickly found themselves on the defensive as Bedford took an eighth minute lead when Craig Daniel gave Richard Fey no chance.
Danny Barwood then saved a dangerous situation as Bedford maintained the pressure before Mangotsfield hit back with Matt Townley bringing a good save from Bedford keeper Matt Arnett.
Striker Ian Draycott was proving a problem for the Mangotsfield defence from set pieces but he twice wasted good chances when he failed to hit the target from corners with headers.
Then just before half time he saw his low drive well saved by Fey. But five minutes into the second half Bedford struck to make it 2-0 when from a Daniel corner the ball fell to Jon Downley who gave Fey no chance from close range.
Mangotsfield hit back to put themselves in the game when a Grove corner found Townley to beat goalkeeper Armitt with a neat glancing header in the 70th minute.
But four minutes later Bedford hit back to clinch victory and put the result beyond any doubt with a third goal when Daniel's cross gave the dangerous Draycott the chance to beat Fey with a well placed header.
