Mangnal gets his tactics right to win Weekend Open title
TOM Mangnal weighed in as top rod in Avon Angling's Weekend Open, fished at Landsend Fisheries, near Wedmore.
Mangnal poled worm over chopped maggot into the island margins at 13-15 metres off Match Five and brought 127-8-0 of carp, weighing into low double figures, to the scales.
Second place and the top silvers catch went to Tony Rixon, who included a winning 27-8-0 of skimmers and chub in a 113-13-0 total catch, taken from Specimen 36.

Cole poled a single maggot hookbait to the bottom of the island shelf at ten metres off peg 37 for 57-11-0 of carp to almost 5-0-0.

Rob Mills ran in just one fish clear of his nearest challenger in the Carpenters Arms 2,000 AC match, fished on Brick Lake at the Sedges Fishery, Bridgwater.
Mills poled paste at seven metres centre off peg eight and brought a seven-carp catch, totalling 64-9-0, to the scales.

Top man was John Smith, who poled luncheon meat and later a banded 8mm pellet at 16 metres off disabled peg six. He weighed in an 83-14-0 of carp to 12lb plus a 1-12-0 catch of skimmers that tipped the scales in his favour. The runner-up was Bob 'The Bread' Price who fished the same tactics at peg 18 for an 85-4-0 all-carp catch.
