Manager Slade is set to unleash Yeovil wing wonders
ALL eyes will be on the wingers when Yeovil Town host Brighton at Huish Park today.
Former Sunderland left-sided player Andy Welsh will make his home debut for the Glovers, while Danny Schofield will play his second game after returning from injury.
And in the Brighton squad will be Bristolian Joe Anyinsah, who this week joined the Seagulls on loan from Preston North End.
Anyinsah began his career with great promise at Bristol City before being lured away to Deepdale in July 2005.
While Anyinsah may begin his Brighton career on the bench, Welsh and Schofield are almost certain starters for the hosts.
Schofield is just glad to be involved. A challenge by Leeds United's Frazer Richardson saw him carried off in the 1-1 draw at Huish Park.
The former Huddersfield player admitted he was concerned at the time. "I went to hospital to get it scanned but they said it was fine and it was just a case of getting the swelling down and the bruising out with ice," he said.
"It was just a whack onto the bone, which caused a bit of bruising. It has settled down now, and day by day it gets better and better."
Schofield started the MK Dons game on the right wing, with Welsh on his preferred left-hand side. But the two switched flanks during the first half and that could be a common occurence.
"The gaffer said he wanted us to switch over and confuse their defenders," said Schofield.
"Obviously it didn't work as much against MK Dons but the more we play together, the more good performances we will put in.
"Andy is technically very good. I didn't know much about him when he came, but I know he has played for Sunderland in the Premiership and went to Toronto and then to Blackpool, so he has got a good pedigree.
"I don't mind which side I play on. I have played on both wings during my career so I don't really prefer one to the other."
Schofield insisted the Yeovil squad are ready for the home comforts of Huish Park after four straight away games.
"The lads have done a lot of travelling, so it is good to have a home game at last," he said.
"The fans have been brilliant – they have travelled all over – as much as us."
There will be a minute's applause before kick-off today and the players will wear black armbands in memory of former kit-man Tony Trott. The 79-year-old passed away this week.
